These terms cover dmvwaittimes.com. Using the site means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.

This site is independent. It is not run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any Department of Motor Vehicles, any state agency, or any other government body. Nothing here is official guidance, and nothing here replaces checking with the office you plan to visit.

A public index of DMV offices with their addresses, published opening hours and an estimated wait. The wait figure is modelled, not measured. Nobody is standing in the office counting; the number is produced from the sources below and refreshed on a schedule.

• —Anonymous wait reports submitted by people who were recently at that office.
• —Past reports for the same office at the same hour and the same day of the week.
• —Published office hours, sourced from Google Places and from official state office lists.
• —A statistical estimate combining the above, cached and recalculated periodically.

The estimate is there to help you decide when to go. It is not a guarantee, and it can be wrong — badly wrong at an office with few recent reports.

You do not need an account to look anything up. An account exists for one purpose: to keep wait alerts, which notify your browser when the estimated wait at an office you chose drops below a threshold you set.

• —There is no password. You sign in with a one-time link emailed to you, so keep control of that inbox — anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
• —Alerts are best effort. They are checked on a schedule rather than continuously, they are capped so you are not notified repeatedly about the same office, and delivery depends on your browser and its vendor’s push service. Do not rely on an alert arriving.
• —Because the alert is based on the same modelled estimate, it can fire when the real wait is longer, or stay silent when the real wait is short.
• —You can pause an alert, remove one, turn off browser notifications for the whole account, or delete the account entirely from your account page. Deleting the account is immediate and cannot be undone.

• —Submit false or misleading wait reports, or coordinate with others to push an office’s numbers up or down. The published estimates are built from these reports, so a fake report degrades the site for the next person standing outside a DMV.
• —Use the site for anything unlawful, or to encourage anyone else to.
• —Harass, abuse, defame, impersonate, threaten or discriminate against anyone through the contact form or any other part of the site.
• —Infringe anyone’s intellectual property, ours or a third party’s.
• —Attempt to break into, overload, probe or disrupt the site or the systems behind it.
• —Scrape or bulk-harvest the site with automated tools beyond the rate limits it enforces, or attempt to evade those limits.

Wait estimates

Every published wait figure is a model output based on the data we happen to have. It may not reflect the queue in front of you at any given moment. We make no guarantee of accuracy, and an office with sparse reports will produce a poor estimate.

Hours and addresses

Opening hours and addresses come from third-party and official sources and can be out of date, particularly around holidays and unplanned closures. Check with the office before you travel.

Availability

The site can go down, be taken down for maintenance, or lose access to the services it depends on. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access.

Provided as is

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the site, including:

• —Time spent waiting at an office.
• —A wasted trip caused by an inaccurate estimate or by out-of-date hours.
• —An alert that arrived late, or did not arrive at all.
• —Loss of profits, data, use or goodwill.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.

What the site collects and how long it keeps it is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. It names the specific fields stored and the specific companies that process them, including what happens when you set an alert and allow browser notifications.

We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects your rights, we will say so on this page at least thirty days before it takes effect.
